Roti Jala

These fun crepes were a delicious addition to my Malaysian food night. When I went to YouTube to look for how to make them I saw two different tools used to get the net shape. The First as a special tool just for that. It was a cup with several long tube on the bottom to form the batter. The second, and the method I used, was a water bottle with three holes cut or drilled in the top. Because with the method the holes are closer together the batter needs to be a little bit thicker to keep it from all running together.

1 1/4 c. flour
1/8 tsp. turmeric powder
1 egg
1/3 c. coconut milk (reserved from the curry)
Pinch salt
1 c. water

Combine everything in a blender and run until smooth. Make sure the batter isn't too thin, adding flour, a tablespoon more at a time, as needed.

Drizzle the batter in to a heated nonstick pan. Cook until the batter is set and no longer liquid. Remove from the pan. Let rest a few minutes until soft. Fold the sides in and roll. Repeat with remaining batter.
