Salad Lalo Kreol


      This vibrant recipe is also courtesy of The Creole Melting Pot and features an African classic that has become s staple in the south. The okra was great tossed in a light dressing that accented its flavors beautifully. 

Okra Salad Recipe
12-15 small okra
1/4 red onion, sliced very thin
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 lime, juices
Salt and pepper to taste

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a generous amount of salt. Add the okra pods, whole, to the water and cook for 5 minutes. 

While the okra is cooking combine the red onion, lime juice, and salt and pepper. Massage the onions and lime juice for a minute. 

Once the okra is cooked remove it from the water and add it to the lime juice. Drizzle with the olive oil and toss to coat.
